There are 3 kinds of people in this world. The first kind are the nurturers. These individuals look after others and give, even after their cups are empty. They find it their purpose in life to serve others, even at the expense of their own well being.
The second kind of people don't see themselves as worthy of love, of rewards, of happiness. This could be either due to their self - talk where they find it is selfish to give themselves anything or because they find that they are not deserving of love or happiness.
The third kind of people are those who fill their cups before others. Not because they are stuck up or selfish, but because they know that without self love, they won't be able to serve others. They know that the most important relationship to invest in is their own.
You know how in the airplane, when they go over the emergency information and they talk about in case of a drop of oxygen in the cabin, to secure the oxygen mask over yourself BEFORE helping others? This is because you can only help others if you YOURSELF are running on oxygen.
So for those who feel uncomfortable or undeserving of oxygen before helping others, I challenge you to start small. Don't wait until the end of the week or until you feel like you have earned a treat. Treat yourself NOW. Whether that looks like a pamper session - doing your hair, putting on a face mask, diving into a book, or doing yoga. I promise you, spending time on yourself will result in a happier you and it will overflow into other parts of your life.
